Australia Welcomes the 2015 with a Bang.

Millions of revellers across Australia just experienced a taste of what is to come at midnight as the iconic Sydney Harbour lit up the night sky in preparation to celebrate the countdown into 2015.

The traditional prequel to the midnight annual spectacular – the 9pm firework display is particularly suited to families whose young children will be in a deep slumber by the time the clock strikes 12am.

Two bright blue seahorses were the stars of the first act of the city's renowned fireworks display as the Sydney Harbour Bridge once again stole the show. 

Never an event to disappoint – both fireworks displays feature a total of seven tonnes of fireworks, including 11,000 shells, 25,000 shooting comets and more than 100,000 individual pyrotechnic effects.

Following the 9pm display, the Harbour of Light Parade will see more than 50 illuminated boats carry over 8,000 people on a majestic passage around Sydney Harbour.

And as if that wasn't enough - a third mini-display, known as the 'Inspire moment', kicked off at 10.40pm to keep crowds entertained in the lead up to the much-anticipated countdown.

Bad Times for AirAsia as another Plane over shoots runway in the Philippines.

An AirAsia airliner has overshot the runway at an airport in the Philippines forcing passengers to make an urgent exit on emergency slides, it has been claimed.

The incident occured at Kalibo Airport in Aklan province and involved an Airbus A320-216 carrying 153 passengers and crew from the Filipino capital Manila.

Local journalist Jet Damazo-Santos was on board the plane and uploaded photographs to Twitter showing chaotic scenes as passengers were forced to disembark the aircraft on emergency slides.

'Engine was shut immediately, we were told to leave bags, deplane asap. Firetruck was waiting,' she said, adding that there appeared to be no injuries despite the plane coming to an 'abrupt stop'.

The incident comes just hours after 40 bodies were recovered from the Java Sea following the disappearance of AirAsia flight 8501 on Sunday. 162 people were on board the flight when it disappeared from radars 42 minutes into its flight from Surabaya in Indonesia to Singapore.

Poor weather has been suggested a likely factor in that crash after it emerged the pilot requested to deviate from its flight plan and climb above bad weather

Gunfire in Gambian capital, attempted coup suspected

Unknown gunmen attacked the state house in Banjul in what is suspected to have been a bid to overthrow the government of President Jammeh. The Gambian military said they had overcome the would-be coup.
With President Yahya Jammeh away, soldiers in the The Gambia are reported to have attempted to stage a military coup early on Tuesday. Jammeh, who seized power himself in a military coup two decades ago, was said to be in Dubai by some sources and France by others.
"The presidential palace was attacked very early this morning, at around 3:00 am, by armed individuals of whom some came from the presidential guard," a Gambian diplomat said.
"They wanted to overthrow the regime," a military source in the small west African country told the AFP news agency. The attackers were apparently beaten back by troops loyal to Jammeh. Residents of the city confirmed that they heard gunfire in the night and that soldiers had prevented some people from going to work in the morning. Banks and other offices remained closed on Tuesday, residents told the media. State radio played traditional music and did not report on the incident.
Jammeh, who was elected outright two years after his own coup and reelected three times since, has stifled dissent in the Gambia and faced increased criticism from abroad over his human rights record.
There has been no official confirmation of the overthrow attempt as soldiers continued to block access to downtown Banjul.

BREAKING NEWS:Debris and Body found in Search Area for missing PLANE

Reports reaching us indicate that a body, luggage, a plane door and emergency slide - believed to be debris from missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 -  have reportedly been spotted by search teams.

Reports from crews suggest as many as 10 items may have been located - including what might be a life raft, life jackets and long orange tubes. 

There are also reports a body was also among the debris found.

'The body seemed bloated,' First Lieutenant Tri Wibowo, who was on board a Hercules aircraft during the search operation, was reported as saying by Kompas.com. 

Indonesian air force official Agus Dwi Putranto announced on Tuesday in Surabaya searchers may have found the site where the flight is believed to have downed. 

Displaying photos of 10 large objects and a number of smaller white-coloured, still unidentified objects, Mr Agus said the items were seen about 10km from the location where the aircraft was last logged on radar. 

He said there was confidence the location of the aircraft had now been found.

There were no immediate reports of any survivors, although the presence of a life raft might raise hopes people survived the crash.

A female bullfighter was gored twice by the same bull while trying to kill it in a Mexico City bullring. 

A 1,090lb-bull named Gamusino threw Karla de los Angeles up over his head on Sunday as she went in to kill it at the Plaza de Toros de Mexico, BBC reported.

de los Angeles was treated by medics before going back to fight, when she was gored a second time by Gamusino, according to the news outlet,

 Cuts of 4.7inches and 3.9inches were made to the 25-year-old bullfighter's thigh and gluteal muscles during the battle.

Federico Dominguez, de los Angeles' assistant, was also gored by the massive bull, BBC reported.

Gamusino injured two different assistants as well as a farmer after he leaped over the ring and went into a walkway, One of the assistants reportedly had a concussion and is in serious condition.

5,000 people went to the bullring on Sunday, as part of a ten-day event, the wire service reported.

Nigeria's vice president Namadi Sambo has made it known that his Bachelors and Masters certificates got destroyed in a fire! He made this known ahead of the 2015 general elections, informing INEC before hand.


Both degree certificates, which are Bachelors and Masters, in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where destroyed, and this was revealed in the declaration of documents he filed with INEC and displayed at the commission's office in Abuja although the details of the fire that consumed the certificates were not given.

The VP's declaration was validated by two letters from the university, both signed by Alhassan Garba for the institution's registrar.


The first was written under the title:


"To Whom it may Concern: Mohammed Namani Sambo," and reads;



"I certify that the above-named person having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations was awarded the Bachelor of Science (Architecture) with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in 1976 by the Senate of this University. His original certificate got burnt. Please treat his case in view of this certification. Thank you."

Islamic State has executed 116 foreign fighters from their group.

Reports coming in indicate that he Islamic State has in just a couple of months executed at least 116 foreign fighters who wanted to quit jihad and return home, a British-based human rights monitoring group claims.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the men killed were foreign fighters who had joined the insurgency but were caught trying to leave territory controlled by militants.

But the monitoring group warned numbers were probably underestimates. 'We believe that the real number of people that had been killed by IS is higher than the number documented,' it said on its website.This blood thirsty scums have a penchant for spilling blood even from within themselves,

Those killed for their attempted desertion were among a total of at least 1,878 people executed in six months by the self-styled Islamic State, which enforces an extreme version of religious law on the areas it controls.

The militant group has taken vast parts of Iraq and Syria and declared a caliphate in territory under its control in June. Since then it has fought the Syrian and Iraqi governments, other insurgents and Kurdish forces.

Rami Abdulrahman, the head of the Syrian monitoring group, told Reuters that Islamic State killed at least 1,175 civilians, including eight women and four children.

He said 930 of the civilians were members of the Sheitaat, a Sunni Muslim tribe from eastern Syria which fought Islamic State for control of two oilfields in August

On Sunday Chris Rock's wife Malaak Compton announced she was leaving the 49-year-old comedian.

'After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways,' she said in a statement.

The founder of the nonprofit styleWorks added, 'Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life's blessings, even when faced with difficulties. 

'While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority.

Arizona Cop Shot Dead In Domestic Violence Call

A 24-year-old police officer has been shot dead while investigating a domestic violence case in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Flagstaff Police Department said Tyler Stewart was shot several times after responding to reports of the confrontation.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Robert W Smith, then turned the gun on himself.
He is reported to have died at the scene.
Local media said Mr Stewart, who had been an officer with the Flagstaff Police Department for less than a year, died of his wounds in hospital a short time later.
Several sources say he had been shot in the face,this series of gun issues in America calls for concern,young men are being cut down in their prime on both sides of the divide.

But Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson has snapped up the 23,000 sq-ft property for $70m (£57m). Persson, who sold his company Mojang to Microsoft for $2.5bn (£2bn), reportedly paid for the house in cash and closed the deal in just six days.

Persson is a member of Sweden's Mensa and also makes electronic music. He was previously married but the relationship ended in 2012.

Ridley Scotts Epic Banned in Egypt.

Critics accuse director Ridley Scott of making too many historical mistakes and wrongly casting white actors in the lead roles.

Egypt has become the second country to ban the biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, citing "historical inaccuracies".

Egypt's culture minister Gaber Asfour said the film wrongly contains the claim that "Moses and the Jews built the pyramids".
"This totally contradicts proven historical facts," he said"
"It is a Zionist film ... (which) gives a Zionist view of history and contains historical inaccuracies and that's why we have decided to ban it."
Exodus, directed by British film-maker Sir Ridley Scott and starring Christian Bale, dramatises the Bible's Book of Exodus.
It tells the story of Moses helping Israelite slaves flee persecution in Egypt by parting the Red Sea.
The $140m (£89.9m) epic has also been widely criticised by Christian groups for taking too many liberties with the Bible and by reviewers for casting mainly white actors in the lead roles.
The head of Egypt's censorship committee, Mohammed Afifi, said further errors include the film's portrayal of the parting of the Red Sea as a"tidal phenomenon" rather than a divine miracle.
He also objected to Moses holding a sword rather than a stick.
The film was banned in Morocco earlier this week.
The controversy comes after the Bible epic Noah, starring Russell Crowe, was banned in several countries in the Middle East this year for its depiction of a prophet, which is forbidden in Islam.

BREAKING NEWS:Contact lost with Air Asia flight to Singapore.

An AirAsia flight from Indonesia to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic controllers, according to local media.

Transport Ministry official Hadi Mustofa said the aircraft, flight number QZ 8501, lost contact with the Jakarta air traffic control tower at 6.17am local time.
He said the plane had asked for an unusual route before it lost contact.
An Indonesian transport official confirmed the plane was an Airbus 320-200 and that seven crew and 155 passengers were on board.      
The plane lost communication with Indonesia's Surabaya airport 42 minutes after takeoff at 5.35 am, Hadi Mustofa, an official of the transportation ministry told Indonesia's MetroTV.
Local media are reporting there were 149 Indonesians, three Koreans, one Singaporean, one Briton and one Malaysian national on board.
A statement on AirAsia's Facebook page said: "AirAsia Indonesia regrets to confirm that flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control at 0724hrs this morning.We'll keep you posted on developments as they break.

Neil Warnock sacked as Crystal Palace manager after four months in charge.

Neil Warnock has been sacked as manager of Crystal Palace after just four months in charge at Selhurst Park. 

The Eagles dropped into the bottom three of the Premier League on Boxing Day after a 3-1 loss to Southampton, with pressure mounting on Warnock and fans calling for his head. 

Keith Millen will once again take temporary charge, with Palace traveling to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

Born in Hemel Hempstead, he has represented England's Under-18 team three times throughout the course of the season. In a 4-1 win over Poland, he bagged two goals from the left wing after playing for 82 minutes.
